HVHMG Mid-Hudson IPMS
Who we are?
HVHMG Stands for the Hudson
Valley Historical Miniatures Guild. Our club is a member of the International
Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS). This Club meets on the First
Wednesday of the month at the Town
of East Fishkill Community Library located on Rte. 376 in Hopewell Junction,
NY. We are based in the picturesque area of Dutchess County, in the
lower Hudson Valley of New York State. Originally
the HVHMG club was formed by Jimi Barton, Don Weeks, and Chuck Lamb in 1986, for the ability for Figure modelers and painters to get
together to enhance each members ability in the hobby.
Then there was a Group of Club members who had
formed the Mid-Hudson IPMS back in the early 1970's. For a number of years they,
(Roger Greimsmann, Eli Geher, Steve
Whitney, Ken Hanson, Stan Waryas,
and a few others), met at members houses. The chapter never
listed more than a half dozen members or so. Some of these members, who were also members of the
HVHMG had brought the idea of merging the two groups into one.
In 2003 HVHMG and IPMS Mid Hudson voted to
merge under the IPMS Banner for
the benefits of becoming a member of a great modeling society, and two clubs become one.
This has helped the group evolve into a club of Figure, Armor, Aircraft, Automobile, Ship, Diorama, and
Science Fiction modelers. Basically anything in scale modeling is welcome.
This year we are celebrating
our 22nd Anniversary. When
our club members meet, We have Mini-Competitions, Demonstrations on technique,
and plan other gatherings for group members to visit other neighboring club
shows. This years schedule can be found on the Events
web page on this site. We also gather to plan our Own Club show that is held annually in
October in Poughkeepsie, NY. Please visit the HVHMG2008
page to get additional information about our show. The group always looks
for new members, and all are welcome to come to one of our regular meetings to
see what we are all about. Any additional information on the club, you can
e-mail our Club President, or our Officer
at Large and we will be sure get your questions answered A.S.A.P.
